Night Game Drives
Manyara National Park
Nothing compares to the unique experience of a night game drive on the African savannah. The surrounding quiet is heavy with the sounds of animals moving through the darkness. In addition, many animals who use the hot daylight hours to relax come alive in the cool, nighttime hours.
Night drives offer an entirely new perspective on Tanzania’s wildlife and natural surroundings. For example, hippos, who are primarily nocturnal animals, can often be seen grazing in herds by the side of the road at night.
Leopards and lions are other examples of animals who tend to spend the daylight hours relaxing and sleeping — but who come alive during the dark hours of the night.
NOTE: Keep in mind that during a night game drive, the African landscape can get quite chilly — dress accordingly!
